David Sladky (SCC# SMI0095) entered Starfleet Academy at the age of 20 and, four years later, graduated with the rank of Ensign. He was first assignmed to the USS Challenger's engineering section.

After this, he transferred to USS Thagard’s communications department due to that ship having lost some of its crew on a deep space mission. After serving aboard the Thagard for two years, he transferred again, this time to USS Thor’s security section. After a year of service, bringing his total number of active duty years to four, he had still not been promoted to Lieutenant (Junior Grade).

Looking for a better way to advance his career, he entered the Starfleet Marine Corps, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, and attached to the 7th Division General Staff as public affairs officer (PAO). In 6 months he was promoted to First Lieutenant and made CO of the 102nd Marine Strike Group (MSG). A year later he was promoted to Marine Captain and made Chief of Staff of the 5th Division.

After helping save a Klingon delegation from a terrorist attack, he was promoted to Major and given command of Starbase Enigma. Within the year he would be promoted to Lt Col and be working as the Chief of Staff for the Starfleet Marines 5th Division. That next year he was given command of the 5th Division and promoted to Colonel.

Not long after assuming command, he was arrested, tried, and convicted of stealing a Federation Runabout and violating Romulan space. The charges were later overturned after it was discovered he was following orders. Personal problems caused him to resign from the post of Division Commander and return to his former post of commanding the 102nd MSG.

After losing a bid as Chief of Operations Starfleet Marines, he announced his retirement from the Corps. There are unconfirmed accounts that he was working on the UFP Special Security Division Command Staff, but there are no formal records of this.

At the request of Starfleet Marine Command, he came out of retirement to resume command of the 102nd MSG, 42nd Regiment and become Chief of Staff for the 7th Starfleet Marine Division. A short time later, he was appointed to Chief of Operations of the entire Starfleet Marine Corps. Infighting with the other command staff resulted in not only being passed over for promotion to General, but rather a temporary demotion to 2nd Lieutenant on trumped up charges.

Retiring for a second time, he was in route to his home on Earth, when the transport he was traveling in disappeared with all hands.
